Predictive Role of Perceived Parenting Style, Emotional Distress on Creativity in Higher Secondary Students.

Abstrakt: The purpose of the study was determine relationship among perceived parenting style, emotional distress on creativity in higher secondary students, the predictive role of parenting style, emotional distress on creativity in higher secondary students. The objective is to evaluate the interactive effect of parenting style and emotional distress on creativity in higher secondary students. Corelational research design was used. Data were collected from August, 2019 to October, 2019 from government and private colleges.150 participants were selected through convenient sampling technique from Lahore with age range of 15 to 18 years students. Data was collected through perceived Parenting style scale (Gafoor & Kurukkan, 2014), emotional distress scale (Robertson, 2006) and creativity (Kaufman Domains of Creativity Scale K-DOC, 2012). Result of Pearson correlation revealed that parental responsiveness, parental control positively significantly correlated with the self/everyday, scholarly subscale of the creativity and the emotional distress non-significant negatively correlated with them. The finding of the study indicated that supporting role of the authoritative parenting style inspired behavior towards the students authorizing the creativity of the students and overcome the emotional distress situation during the period of creativity in student's life rather than the other parenting styles.
