Abstrakt: Recent research from the University of New Haven has focused on the development of novel covalent binders for the treatment of sickle cell disease (SCD). The researchers used structure-based computational techniques to design random molecules based on the electrophilic functionality of the drug Voxelotor. Through virtual screening and molecular dynamics simulations, they identified three potential drug candidates with promising properties. However, further experimental validation is needed to determine their preclinical relevance for drug development. This research provides valuable insights into potential therapeutic targets for SCD.
