Notes from the Eremocene: selected issues of the last part of the post-anthropocentric trilogy of Viera Čákanyová The study focuses on the latest film by one of the most talented and in the European context most interesting contemporary Slovak directors and screenwriters, Viera Čákanyová (1980), Notes from the Eremocene (2023). The filmmaker herself describes it as the final part but also as a prequel of a loose trilogy, consisting of her professional debut feature FREM (2019) and White on White (2020). All of the aforementioned films bring together correlated themes with a strong international overlap: themes of artificial intelligence, climate change and the threat to extinction of the human experience or the outright extinction of humanity. In separate essayistic sections, the study analyses selected issues of the last part of the trilogy in relation to the knowledge of the previous work of Viera Čákanyová, in order to point out some aspects of posthumanism in her work.
