Introduction: Vitamin B12, an essential micronutrient in the human body, is required for the synthesis of DNA, RNA, phospholipids, and neurotransmitters. Deficiency is due to either severe malabsorption by autoimmune gastritis, bowel diseases or gastrectomy, or by use of drugs that can cause malabsorption, and less dietary intake. The Study aimed to assess the effectiveness of educational package in terms of knowledge regarding vitamin B12 deficiency among women in selected rural area of Kheda district. Material and Methods: A quantitate research approach through pre - experimental research design was adopted. Non-probability convenient sampling method was used to enrol 40 women residing at salun village. The data were collected structured knowledge questionnaire on Vitamin B 12 deficiency. analysis was done by descriptive and inferential statistics. Result: Result revealed that in pre-test knowledge score majority 36(90%) has poor knowledge, 04(10%) have average knowledge and 00(0%) sample have good knowledge. In post-test knowledge score, the average category had 5(12.5%), whereas the good category had 35 (87.5%). The mean post-test knowledge score (17.35) was higher than the mean pre-test knowledge score (8.98), with a mean difference of 8.37. The calculated 't' value (9.63)was higher than the tabulated 't' value (2.02) shows effectiveness of educational package. Regarding association only Marital status having significant association with pre-test Knowledge score. Conclusion: The study concluded that educational package was found effective to improve knowledge among women regarding vitamin B12 deficiency. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
