DEHP (di-(2-Ethylhexyl) phthalate) is a plasticizer widely used as an additive added to polymers. DEHP waste in waters has toxicity for environmental dan health. Adsorption can be an alternative for removal of DEHP because its simplicity. PAN (polyacrylonitrile) has been widely used to remove organic contaminants in water. Modification PAN by using GO-Fe3O4 can improve the physical properties and chemical stability. In this study, the composite material synthesized from PAN modified by GO-Fe3O4 has been carried out by casting method, characterizing and evaluating its activity for absorption of DEHP. Characterization using FTIR demonstrated dominant peaks at 530-570 cm−1, 2244 cm−1, and 3464-3579 cm−1, indicating the presence of Fe-O bonds, CN groups, and OH groups. Surface morphology and cross-section were evaluated using SEM-EDS and optimum conditions for DEHP adsorption occurred at a contact time 90 minutes, mass material 0.08 gram, temperature 25°C, and initial DEHP concentration 500 ppm. The result of the adsorption process followed the Langmuir isotherm exothermic with delta H° = −63.122 kJ/mol and capasity of adsorption 2.22 mg/g. From the literature review results, it can be seen that the DEHP adsorption isotherms are mostly the same as the results obtained from the experiment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
