Abstrakt: The article focuses on the management of hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state (HHS) in adults. It discusses the choice between "tonicity" and "serum osmolality" as essential parameters for assessing and preventing brain damage in cases of hyponatremia or osmolar abnormalities. It argues that "tonicity" is a more accurate indicator for complex cases, such as osmotic demyelination syndrome (ODS) or cerebral edema during HHS treatment.
