I XOPÓ : The Dance of Adam i and I Elemental Chorology i are essential reading for anyone interested in premodern dance, religious dance, and dance in the visual arts. Isar's sophisticated musings on the relationship between dance and space may also help complicate current research on site-specific dance performance. Dance scholars might find Isar's discussion of Byzantine ekphrasis to be the most interesting part of this chapter.
