Effectiveness and safety of 5-fluorouracil cream versus peeling with Jessner solution and 5-fluorouracil lotion in the treatment of skin cancerization field: a randomized clinical trial Skin cancerization field (SCF) comprehends an apparently normal tegument area around actinic keratosis (AK) but with pre-neoplastic, subclinical and multifocal histological alterations, which justifies the emergence of new neoplastic lesions or recurrence of previously completely excised lesions.[1] 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) is an anti-metabolic drug that interferes in DNA synthesis through irreversible inactivation of thymidylate synthase, resulting in apoptosis of high proliferation cells, and is considered the gold standard for SFC treatment.
