Abstrakt: Assessing sedimentation conditions for the formation of hydrocarbon accumulations (HCA) in the Sea of Okhotsk allows identifying three types of sedimentary basins different by the integrity and quality characteristic for such HCA sections. The basins of the first type are characterized by an optimal combination of sedimentary, geodynamic and structural&tectonic conditions. These are sedimentary basins Northern Sakhalin and to a lesser extent Deryuginskiy in the Sea of Okhotsk. The second type of sedimentary basins is located in the proximity of continental or island coastlines. The basins of the Far East seas can be also related to this type. In particular, in the Sea of Okhotsk these are the Northern Okhotsk and West Kamchatka areas of the shelf plate. The third type of sedimentary basins which include the Central Okhotsk group directed to the inside area of the Sea of Okhotsk, a part of the trenches in the vicinity of continents and islands, the subbasins of TINRO and the Deryugin trenches, are located remotely and isolated from the continental sources of removal of the terrigenous fragmentary waste and mostly consist of marine argilliferous or argillaceous-siliceous sediments. The first priority regions for the conduct of oil and gas exploration are the sedimentary basins or subbasins of the 1st type which are developed on the sea water area annexing to the North-Eastern and Eastern parts of Island Sakhalin.
