A shear wall is a straight-up element of a structural system that is inevitable to resist lateral pressures that are in-plane, including wind and earthquakes. It is one of the main structures that resist vertical and horizontal forces acting in its plane with rather stiff resistance. Provision of stability by assuring ductility of the structure and hence improving the resistance against oblique loads coming on the structure. They are considered as a reinforced braced system that ensures the load carrying capacity of tall structures. Each component's load attraction is deeply affected by its position and relative stiffness. So, for structural advantages, the dimensions, height, and positions of the shear wall system should be considered. The type and characteristics of the shear wall should be considered prior to the construction. This study deals with the analysis of the effect of shear wall location on regular buildings with varying storey heights. The complete analysis of the structure has been done by using the analysis software SAP 2000. The optimization of lateral load bearing systems has its own relevance in terms of dependability and safety, and this study aids in choosing the best design for routine constructions with shear walls.
