Abstrakt: The article discusses the protection against viral hepatitis with immune globulins. The term "viral hepatitis," as commonly used, applies to at least three clinically similar disease entities. Identification depends upon careful epidemiologic studies and appropriate serologic tests. Hepatitis A and hepatitis B account for most cases of viral hepatitis. The third one "other hepatitis viruses" has only recently been identified as an entity. This diagnosis is applied after hepatitis A and B have been excluded by diagnostic tests. The illness produced by hepatitis A virus characteristically begins abruptly with fever, malaise, anorexia, nausea, abdominal discomfort and jaundice.
