The article discusses several problems related to the welfare of production, free-living and companion animals in the face of climate change. Global warming undoubtedly has an impact on the physical and mental health of animals. The ease of adaptation of free-living animals will depend on their species and occupied habitat, human participation in this process will be the smallest. The article also draws attention to the problems with the productivity of livestock, the increasing costs of their maintenance and the risk of food shortage resulting from global warming. Agriculture has its infamous share in the progress of climate change, but it also has a number of possibilities to slow down this process. The European Community is undoubtedly a world leader in promoting changes in agriculture aimed at mitigating climate change, but it has not avoided controversial moves. The authors discuss them and show the exceptional complexity of problems and the emergence of hard to foresee events that may have difficult to predict consequences (climate change mitigation traps).
