Abstrakt: Additional patient management challenges can occur if patients attend with confusion around the aspects of the treatment modality. The current system of discharging patients from tier 2 services following the completion of the treatment phase limits opportunities for patient follow-up, which is needed in order to monitor patient outcomes. When IVS was unsuccessful; 6 patients (46%) had treatment completed under local anaesthesia (LA) alone at the same appointment, 3 (23%) booked for LA at a separate visit, 1 patient (7%) rebooked their IVS appointment, 1 patient (7%) was booked for GA and 1 patient (7%) was referred to special care dentistry department and 1 (7%) was discharged. With 69% failed sedation patients subsequently having their treatment completed under LA alone open the question of the detailing of patient assessment appointments and allocation of sedation appointment. B Outcomes: b Since August 2021, there have been 417 patients allocated to the PDS for treatment from the shared MOS referral pathway and an additional 25 transferred to the PDS from existing Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) waiting lists for treatment under intravenous sedation (The accurate number of completed procedures will be included as a table on the poster and displayed for each treatment type, i.e. impacted wisdom teeth removal, removal of retained roots, failed extractions, etc.).
