Increased infrastructure development will affect the demand for composite materials such as concrete since sand, cement, and water are the primary constituents of concrete. By 2025, half of the world's population will live in locations without access to safe drinking water, posing a problem for the plentiful usage of salt water. Infrastructure development must also consider the materials used, including experimenting with seawater-based concrete and adding inhibitors, more environmentally friendly and corrosion-resistant concrete alternatives. According to various studies, concrete treated with corrosion prevention by coating or the inclusion of multiple inhibitors provides several benefits. Along with its benefits, concrete containing salt water or immersed in seawater has several downsides. It can be inferred that corrosion prevention is critical for increasing the corrosion resistance of concrete. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
