For Algeria's pursuit of regional power, this issue, unlike Algeria's goal to diversify its political and economic relationships, is more about the entrenchment of Algeria's relations with pre-existing allies. While the joint operations between Algeria and Russia have not led to active conflict between the Western-backed Morocco and Algeria, the increase in military activity has served as a key indication of a tertiary conflict between Russia and NATO members, with Algeria aligning with Russia. The political discourse between Algeria and Morocco, as well as Algeria's military backing from Russia and political support from China, are key indicators of Algeria's prioritisation of the issue (Tass [13]; El Watan [8]).
