Abstrakt: On the other hand, while the leaderless "swarm intelligence" proposed by Hardt and Negri ([4]) is very evocative for educational settings (and I have benefited greatly from their work more broadly), I do not think the teacher can or should be absorbed into the students. The teacher brings certain knowledges that can do particular work for students, and has a responsibility toward the shape of the conversation, as a whole, that is different from that of students. In the context of neoliberalism, which is predicated on the impossibility of the collective, even the partial production of an experience of collectivity for students and teachers (which is very different from the bad faith of scripted team exercises designed to reproduce dominant knowledge) is very powerful, and opens up domains of imagination and feeling that were not supposed to exist. This is site and context-specific in how it connects the classroom to what's beyond the classroom and how it connects the work students do to the world this inhabits. [Extracted from the article]
