The article discusses the importance of estimating potential life loss consequences due to dam failure or mis-operation and the challenges of dealing with transient populations, such as motorists and pedestrians, in assessing the risk associated with dams. It highlights the need for uniformity in estimating potential life loss and outlines a methodology developed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) Safety of Dams Branch to address these challenges. |
