Abstrakt: Integration, the authors resolve, is best understood as a strategy (not an end in itself) for attaining the fundamental goal of educational equality. School integration, as Blum and Burkholder make clear, has been a flashpoint in the struggle for racial justice in education. The philosophical chapters dig into this idea, conceptualizing educational equality as a "specific bundle of educational goods of an academic, personal, moral, and civic character" provided to each student (93), and parsing its relationship to school integration.
