Music occupies a central position in the life of adolescents, and reflects the values, experiences and influences that are part of this age group. The negative reaction of many adults to the musical tastes and choices of adolescents has served to widen the "generation gap," thereby reducing the chances of establishing working relationships between adolescents and adults, including a long list of professionals, with whom they come in contact.
