Abstrakt: This paper intends to find the location of the fault from the base station to the extent to which the underground cable is laid. The detection is done by using Arduino. The Arduino kit displays the value of the kilometer from the base station keeping the starting as reference. Nowadays underground laid electric cables are preferred over overhead electric cables. This idea makes repairing the underground cable easier when a fault is detected. The basic Ohms law works behind this idea of detection. The series resistors make the length of the cable. Different types of faults like short circuit and open circuit can take place. Short circuit faults like Line-to-Line Fault and Line to Ground fault cause severe trouble. When these faults occur, the voltage value changes which is measured across the resistors. This value is fed to the analog-digital converter of the built-in system. The Arduino processes it and displays the result in the LCD interfaced to it. The value will be displayed in kilometers from the base station. To find the fault in the miniature kit fault switches are placed at regular distances to create faults manually. Thus, the paper helps in finding the location of the fault in Underground Cables.
