Abstrakt: The purpose of this paper is to alert the medical community to the emerging phenomenon of the male perpetrator in Munchausen syndrome by proxy (MSP) and to present the characteristics of a male offender who was responsible for this type of child abuse. MSP was first described in 1977 as a condition in which the parents falsify symptoms in the child through simulation or production of illness and present the child for medical care disclaiming knowledge of the etiology of the problem. A case is presented that illustrates the father as a perpetrator of MSP, He shares many characteristics with his female counterparts, A greater awareness of this syndrome's overlooked aspect may lead to early identification of this form of child abuse.
