The authors also conducted structured interviews with PPP loan recipients and found that those businesses that received smaller-reported loan amounts had more difficulties and less knowledge about the loan application process than larger loan recipients. They compare PPP lending to existing residential and small business lending patterns to assess the disadvantage of Black and Latinx neighborhoods in receiving PPP loans.
