Formations of dissimilar lap weld of steel and titanium alloy by friction stir welding.

Abstrakt: In the present study, investigation of the structure of the dissimilar connection of steel and titanium alloy produced by the friction stir welding has been carried out. The welding process modes were also selected. It is shown that layer of intermetallic compounds was about 2 micrometers. Also there were indicated intermetallic types like FeTi and Fe2Ti. Besides, it is shown absence of interaction material of the tool and materials of welded plates. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
