Abstrakt: The structural and optical properties of pure zirconium oxide films were studied, as well as the doped with silver nanoparticles with the ratios (3,6,9)%. The pulsed laser deposition method was used. The Nd-YAG type laser has a wavelength of 532 nm was used. The XRD results show that the thin films are polycrystalline and of tetragonal phase. There was an increase in the particle size with the increase in the percentage of nanoparticles addition. It was also found that the best direction for crystal growth is (011). The (AFM) results showed an increase in the surface roughness and in the mean square root values. The results of the scanning electron microscope showed that the deposited films are dense with the presence of spherical grains on the surface, and the surface roughness increases with the increase in the percentage of addition of impurities. The results of the optical measurements showed a clear increase in the absorbance values with the increase in the percentage of added impurities, there was also a decrease in the transmittance value with the increase of doping due to the increase in the density of compaction and the attenuation of the incident radiation. The value of the energy gap also decreased from (4.3) to (2.9) eV with the increase in the percentage of addition of impurities, to create additional energy levels above and below the valence band and the conduction band inside the energy gap causes the absorption edge to move towards lower energies during the process of adding impurities.
