Analysis of Cell Response to Ultrahigh Dose-Rate Proton Irradiation.

Abstrakt: The biological effects of proton irradiation with high and ultrahigh dose rates (up to 0.3 MGy/s) of cultured human tumor and normal cells at the Bragg peak and beyond the peak were studied. Flow cytometry was used to study the level of apoptosis and some other characteristics of cells. It was found that in the mode of single-pulse irradiation in the Bragg peak, the level of apoptosis of tumor cells significantly increased. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
