Abstrakt: Detailed advertisement call descriptions are provided for 12 species of hyperoliid frogs (Afrixalus dorsalis, A. osorioi, A. paradorsalis, A. quadrivittatus, Hyperolius cystocandicans, H. glandicolor, H. langi, H. montanus, H. phantasticus, H. puncticulatus, Leptopelis christyi, Phlyctimantis cf. boulengeri) from different localities in East Africa and Gabon. The call of each species is figured in a spectrogram and waveform. East African populations of frogs of the Afrixalus fulvovittatus complex are considered to represent A. quadrivittatus (formerly a junior synonym of A. fulvovittatus). Its advertisement call differs significantly from West African populations reported as A. vittiger. The allocation of green and golden colour morphs from Mount Kenya to the species H. cystocandicans is confirmed by bioacoustics. The presence of H. kuligae in East Africa (Uganda) is doubted. Based on morphological comparisons with type specimens, calls of Phlyctimantis recorded in Gabon are tentatively referred to P. boulengeri. The species is supposed to occur in Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and the Republic of Congo according to advertisement call comparisons. West African populations of Phlyctimantis may represent an undescribed species. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
