Abstrakt: Even after ages of researches, no other material is found to be so relevant for high-level nuclear waste immobilization as glass. Every developed or developing country has already considered or is considering glass as best material for immobilization of radioactive wastes. Glass possesses different properties like chemical durability, thermal stability, mechanical integrity, etc. which makes it preferable over others. Borosilicate glasses (81% of SiO2+13% of B2O3 some quantity of Sodium and aluminum oxides) have better properties than any other glass types like phosphates, aluminosilicates, etc,26 which makes it more efficient for nuclear waste immobilization. Vitrification of high-level waste eases with glass as it allows good processability during fabrication. In this review, details regarding radioactive wastes, glass and its types have been discussed. But how glass can be used for nuclear waste immobilization? The emphasis is also given over the processes of cleaning up high-level wastes like actinides, nuclear weapons, etc. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
