Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) is a persistent bio-psychological disorder with the absence of actual pathological reason, which is diagnosed by altered bowel habits with abdominal discomfort or pain (the motility defect, distorted visceral perception of sensation, etc.). Allium sativum (Garlic), a species of the onion family Amaryllidaceae, is one of the most widely used plants in herbal medicine across the world for Inflammatory Bowel Disease. A. sativum extracts contain over 200 chemicals with various properties. The medicinal properties of A. sativum have been well-known for a long period. However, it was only in the last three decades that the properties of A. sativum were thoroughly studied, verifying its healing value. It is consumed worldwide as food known for its benefits against several diseases. A. sativum have many biological effects on human body like antibacterial, antihypertensive, antifungal, renoprotective and anti-inflammatory agent, etc. The three main underexplored phytoconstituents of A. sativum, i.e., ajoene, 2-Vinyl-4H-1,3-dithiin, and allyl methyl sulfide are considered to have anti-inflammatory and anti-ulcerative activity. The main objective of this study is to establish the effectiveness of these three phytoconstituents of garlic against Inflammatory Bowel Disease with the help of prediction of activity spectra of substances (PASS).
