Abstrakt: With respect to attempts at weight reduction with adolescents, it is generally believed that initial responses are fair if motivation is high, but that relapses are common and that long-term successes are few. Obese adolescents may show improvement in other areas during and after therapy, but success in management seems to be gauged solely in terms of actual weight loss. Taking body weight as the criterion of success, this article cites the study undertaken at the University of Washington Adolescent Clinic to determine the present status of those obese adolescents who had been treated over the past ten years. Organized in 1959, this clinic uses an interdisciplinary approach in the diagnosis and management of adolescent problems.
