AISI 410 martensitic stainless steel is mainly appreciated for its resistance to corrosion. It has an outstanding hardness, strength as well as wear resistance, though it lacks ductility. In order to improve the ductility by slightly decreasing the hardness, vacuum Annealing and vacuum Tempering processes were chosen. The samples were taken as cylindrical shapes with a length of 40 mm and a diameter of 10 mm, respectively. The samples were annealed at three different temperatures 723°C, 800°C, 850°C, named as A1, A2, A3 respectively and tempered at three different temperatures 200°C, 400°C, 600°C, named as T1, T2, T3 respectively. The untreated sample was kept aside for comparing the results. Wear test was carried out by using the pin-on-disc machine for all the samples. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis were carried out for all samples and the results were compared. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
