Abstrakt: |
This makes it possible to cope with the fast-changing landscape of digital media and to address issues unique to digital discourse studies such as the presence of non-linguistic semiotic elements, the ephemeral nature of digital data, and the platform-specific constraints. The authors stress that the quantification of certain communication features can be complemented by highly detailed, fine-grained qualitative analysis, thereby rejecting "the bigger the data, the better the research" hypothesis in digital discourse analysis. Chapter 6 by Caroline Tagg and Tereza Spilioti addresses one of the biggest challenges facing digital discourse scholars: the research ethics. [Extracted from the article] |
