This article presents information about the applied research program "University-Level Scientific Research in Priority Areas of Science and Technology," created and started by the Russian Ministry of Education on June 16, 2000. The new program, reportedly, will combine several existing programs at the theoretical and practical level to improve the structure and organization of such research. The main goals of the program are: to make optimum use of the existing scientific-technical potential of the educational system to maximize its contribution to the socioeconomic development of the country; to improve the preparation of specialists and the qualifications of science teachers; to make applied research activities in the educational system innovation-oriented. The program consists of the following sub-programs: production methods; new materials; chemistry and chemical products; technologies of living systems; transport; fuel and power engineering; ecology and efficient use of natural resources; electronics; innovation; quality; architecture and construction. |
