Purpose of Review: The burden of HPV co-infection in people living with HIV is high leading to increase incidence of HPV-related malignancies. Antiretroviral therapy and HPV vaccination appears to have made a significant impact on the prevention and treatment of HPV-related cancers. Recent Findings: Cervical and anal cancer data on survival and risk factors in people living with HIV showed a better prognosis with antiretroviral treatment and immune reconstitution. HPV vaccination has been demonstrated effective and safe in HIV infection but showed no impact on progression of precancerous lesions. Head and neck and other genital cancer are more frequent in HIV population, but no standardized screening is available and only few studies addressed vaccine efficacy. Summary: Cervical and anal cancer incidence and prognosis in people living with HIV depends on access to screening, treatment, and vaccination. Only few data are available on other HPV-related cancers in HIV infection. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
