The article focuses on the 2022 Children's Literature Assembly Expert Class, which explored representations of sexual violence in children's literature, examining how books can offer hope in the face of such darkness. It discusses the increased presence of sexual violence themes in middle-grade books, driven in part by the #MeToo movement, and how authors are addressing real-life challenges to provide healing and support for middle-grade readers. |
