Abstrakt: This article presents information about several poster presentations that were presented during the 2005 Scientific Session of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons. The conference was held during April 3-16, 2005, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, U.S. The first presentation is "Gastric Bypass After Solid Organ Transplantation." Results show that patients who have undergone organ transplantation are acceptable candidates for Roux-en-Y gastric bypass although weight loss appears slightly less than non-transplant patients at long-term follow-up. Another study is "Weight Loss Prior to Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass Does Not Affect Outcomes." The goal of this study was to determine if weight loss prior to laparoscopic gastric bypass (LGB) impacted postoperative outcomes.
