This article presents information about several poster presentations which were presented during the 12th International Congress of the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery. The conference was held during June 9-12, 2004, in Barcelona, Spain. The first presentation is "Laparoscopic Hernia Mesh-How Big?." The generally recommended mesh size for laparoscopic hernia repair is 10x15cm. The objective of the presentation is to show that smaller meshes can safely be used for hernias without a large defect. Another presentation is "Laparoscopic Vs Open Recurrent Incisional Hernia Repair." The comparison of post-operative and chronic pain, return to normal physical activity, pre and post-operative bowel habit changes was investigated in patients that underwent laparoscopic incisional hernia repair. |
