Abstrakt: Electrochemical exfoliation is one of the methods which can be used to exfoliate graphite into graphene or exfoliated graphite (EG). This method is excellent to be applied widely because of its simple, inexpensive, and eco-friendly procedures. In this work, an ultrasonication process was involved after electrochemical exfoliation of graphite precursor to produce EG. The influence of ultrasonication on the functionalization, morphology, and electrical properties of the resulted EG samples was analyzed. Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) characterization demonstrated that EG synthesized using ultrasonication has lower oxygen-containing functional groups. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) characterization confirmed that the ultrasonication treatment could produce thinner EG layers than prepared without ultrasonication. The electrical conductivities of the pelletized EG samples were characterized using the four-point probe method. This measurement reveals that EG with ultrasonication has higher (26.15 S/cm) than prepared without ultrasonication (22.67 S/cm). This measurement indicates that the ultrasonication process can improve the electrical properties of the EG prepared via electrochemical exfoliation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
