Socially significant diseases can be defined as diseases of modern lifestyle. They are among the main causes of morbidity and mortality among the population in modern countries. Research conducted in the second half of the 20th century in this direction proves the existence of risk factors that are common to most non-infectious diseases, and the reduction of these factors can reduce mortality and morbidity, and thus the burden on society. Changes in lifestyle, various risk factors such as smoking, sedentary lifestyle, stress, unhealthy diet, alcohol abuse, sharply change the incidence and in many cases increase mortality among large groups of people. Risk factors are often combined, which increases the risk to health many times and requires the application of a complex interdisciplinary approach to reduce their impact. These diseases are directly influenced by trends such as rapid urbanization, globalization of unhealthy lifestyles and an aging population. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
