Quality and Safety Risk Analysis of Melamine and Plant Fiber Tableware Based on Notification Data.

Abstrakt: Based on the notification data of EU recall, domestic supervision and spot check, and domestic recall, data statistical analysis and data visualization methods were used to compare and analyze the notification data of melamine and plant fiber tableware from the perspectives of notification times, notification reasons, and non-conformity items. The analysis of EU recall notification data shows that plant fiber is the most frequently reported material of food contact products. Melamine tableware has the risk of formaldehyde migration and melamine migration exceeding the standard. Plant fiber tableware contains unauthorized components, among which bamboo fiber components have the highest frequency of notification. The analysis of domestic supervision and spot check data shows that the average unqualified rate of melamine tableware is low, and the main risk is that the pollution resistance exceeds the standard. The unqualified rate of plant fiber tableware is higher than that of melamine tableware, and the main risks are excessive formaldehyde migration and melamine migration. Domestic recall notification data show that the main risks of melamine tableware are pollution resistance, label identification and structural defects. The main risk of plant fiber tableware is the excessive migration of melamine. Compared with melamine tableware, the risk of excessive migration of melamine and formaldehyde in plant fiber tableware is higher. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
