Abstrakt: Construction industry contributes high disruption to the natural resources on earth such as aggregate exploitation and carbon emission. In contrast, resolving plastic waste issue is crucial to the sustainability of environment. Endeavoring plastic waste as alternatives lightweight aggregate incorporated diatomite powder through molten blending is the focus of this research. Two types of plastic aggregate named as PETOM and DIAHPET are introduced as the aggregates for concrete. PETOM consists of PET and diatomite powder which ratio of weight is 3 to 1. Next, DIAHPET composes of PET, HDPE, and diatomite powder in weight ratio of 3:3:1. Specimens of lightweight concrete made 25% increment substitution to the pumice aggregate with PETOM and DIAHPET shows prospective results of compressive strength remarkably at 100% substitution of pumice. The compression value of concrete using DIAHPET aggregates is 9.95 MPa which is 47% higher than concrete associating PETOM aggregates of 5.22 MPa. Interestingly, aggregate replacement increases the slump; however, the compression performance escalates. Concrete specimen with DIAHPET and PETOM applies water cement ratio of 0.39 and 0.45, respectively. Better properties of both artificial aggregates than pumice is one of the reasons of better compression performance beside water cement ratio. The utilization of DIAHPET and PETOM is prospective for the replacement of natural lightweight aggregate in concrete. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
