Abstrakt: |
The fibre structure and xylan distribution of wood pulp make the classical Michaelis-Menten rate equation inappropriate for describing the enzyme kinetics of decomposition. Therefore a topochemical modified Prout-Tompkins equation has been analysed and applied to the action of xylanase on kraft pulp. The power coefficient in this kinetic equation provides information about the influence of the amount of product formed and residual substrate on the process rate. It was found that the latter determined the rate while the influence of the product is limited only at the begining of the process. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
