An unusual manifestation of thoracic outlet compression is embolic occlusion of the forearm arteries secondary to a subclavian artery lesion, frequently found in association with a cervical rib. Treatment is directed at removal of the source of the emboli, usually by resection of subclavian artery aneurysm or endarterectomy of stenotic subclavian artery and reopening occluded forearm arteries, as well as decompression of the thoracic outlet. Our experience with 6 patients encountered over 7 years is presented. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
