The article discusses the advantages and disadvantages of permanent magnet synchronous motors with a slotless stator and provides a brief analysis of the prospects for this subclass of electrical machines. It is shown that the characteristics of slotless machines can be improved by reducing the yoke height with a corresponding increase in the rotor diameter and the mass of permanent magnets.
