Abstrakt: This article focuses on the treatment of nephrogenic diabetes insipidus presenting as fever of unknown origin in the neonatal period. Diabetes insipidus is not commonly considered in the differential diagnosis of fever in the neonate. A 3,570 g white male infant was born to a gravida 1 para 0 on May 4, 1974 by cesarian section, carried out because of lack of progress of labor. After ten days, the mother noted that he fell warm and took him to his family physician, who found a fever of 101 F. A diagnosis of respiratory infection was made and Amoxacillin was started. The initial impression was neonatal sepsis with murmur caused by patent ductus arteriosus.
