The article discusses the pediatrician and preventive child psychiatry. Pediatrician, long concerned with the prevention of disease and physical disabilities in children, is giving more and more consideration to children's emotional health as well. Aided by his longitudinal contacts with child and family, and his special interest in child-rearing practices and relationships, he is often able to intervene directly with psychiatric problems arising in his patients, and thereby obviate more formal approaches later. |
