Abstrakt: Indirect immunofluorescent technique directed at factor VTII-related antigen was used to examine the cellular lining of short PTFE vascular grafts replacing a portion of common iliac artery in dogs. The innermost cellular monolayer was determined as true endothelium. The pannus developed from both anastomotic ends of the host artery and strongly supported the overlying endothelium. Endothelial damage occurred in the areas without tissue support underneath. Complete endothelialization played an important role in maintaining graft patency. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
