Abstrakt: The article provides answers to questions by Anette Bremer on the role of decodable texts in teaching reading to beginning readers who are English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) learners. It discusses the importance of explicit phonics instruction, the challenges faced by EAL/D learners and the need for a balanced approach that includes decodables as one tool among others in the teaching sequence.
