Abstrakt: Sacred Art in Godless Times is historically the first exhibition project that systematically outlines the works of sacral art that was created in the Czech lands during the period of religious oppression from 1948 to 1989. The exhibition, organised by the Museum of Modern Art in Olomouc from October 27, 2022 to April 9, 2023, presented a high quality and balanced collection of Czech sacral art from the fifty year period of totalitarianism, representing works from both Catholic and Protestant faiths in the full richness of its manifestation. In addition to the works of such well-known personalities as Mikuláš Medek, Ludvík Kolek and Karel Stádník, the exile work of Josef Šíma and Jan Koblasa was also presented, along with the work of other solitary artists, such as Vojmír Vokolek. This pioneer exhibit of Ivo Binder and Šárka Belšíková, combined with the publication of the comprehensive and extremely valuable publication, brought the original results of this yet unexplored art research, and presented Czech sacral art from the totalitarian era to the general public for the first time.
