This article reports that an eight-year-old girl became ill in November 1964, at which time stiffness of the neck was first noted. This progressed, so that by two weeks she was unable to fully extend her neck. And during the next three months, severe pain developed and continued in the elbows, wrists, hips, ankles, knees and lastly in the small joints of the fingers. There was a low-grade persistent fever. Aspirin was given at a dosage of 3.6 Gm daily, enough to maintain a blood level of about 20 mg/100 ml. She also received physiotherapy. |
