This article presents information on optical dispersion in standardization and quality control of medicinal preparations. The increasing number of heterogeneous medicinals (including falsified preparations) stimulates extensive basic research and effort toward the implementation of more perfect methods for the standardization and quality control of such medicinal preparations. In modern pharmacy, problems related to the standardization and quality control of heterogeneous medicinals are solved by various methods, including microscopy, sedimentation analysis nephelometry, and granulometric sieving analysis. The main disadvantage of the microscopic examination is that the investigation is performed only for a very restricted amount of the given preparation, which decreases the reliability of analysis. |
